Giraffens ABC – Educational Workshop

The ABC workshop is intended as an aesthetic, hands-on learn-to-read activity that offers an alternative path into the magical world of letters.

Giraffens ABC is a tailor-made educational workshop for children at the learn-to-read age. In the ABC workshop, our circus educators work in an aesthetic, practical way with the children and preschool staff, taking the circus performance Giraffens ABC as a starting point. The workshop lasts one hour and is meant as an inspiring element of teaching, offering an alternative creative and physically aesthetic route into the magical world of letters. After the workshop, preschool staff can, if they wish, continue on their own with the children in almost endless explorations using the exercises done and the children’s creative engagement.

The Giraffens ABC workshop is offered both as a deepening and added value for children who have seen Kompani Giraff’s performance Giraffens ABC. It can also be offered in a format that does not depend on the children having seen or planning to see the performance, as a standalone aesthetic, hands-on activity with which Kompani Giraff visits preschools and schools in the region and the city.

The Giraffens ABC workshop was developed by Kompani Giraff in collaboration with Signe Barfoed, a children’s culture specialist educated at the Centre for Child Culture Research.
