A flexible circus performance about growing beyond yourself.
Three bodies emerge from a bubbling pile of fabric. At first, they are joined together. But soon they begin to pull themselves free and find new shapes. They turn themselves inside out, stretch, dissolve and reinvent themselves. The Pile is a place of transformation—a place where time, space and the body push against the limits of physics. A place we both want to stay in and leave.
In The Pile, flexibility is explored in many dimensions. New forms take shape in the encounter between flexible bodies and textile materials. Through hand balancing, contortion, dance acrobatics and aerial acrobatics, an associative, dreamlike narrative unfolds. The performance is created for middle-school audiences, but is for all ages who want to experience and reflect on the body, identity, change and liberation.
